Alverbank Sails was founded in the early 1970's by Kevan Bloor after previously making sails on an amateur basis for his own National Twelve. Initially the early output was in this Class and racing successes led the business into a gradual expansion. Since those early days production has developed into most dinghy classes and small cruisers.
During this period sail making has undergone some radical changes in both materials and manufacturing techniques like laminated sail cloths, taped seam construction and accurate sail panel patterns now enhanced by computer aided design. Alverbank have been at the forefront of these developments.
The Company specialises in the manufacture of custom made racing sails primarily for racing dinghies and small keelboats. Also small cruiser sails for luff lengths up to approximately 8mtrs. We operate a sail repair service, usually on a five day turnaround.
Kevan Bloor has raced dinghies from the early 1960's and
has, over the years, raced at the highest level in the National Twelve, Scorpion
and International Tempest Classes. He has also worked with leading sailors in
classes like Fireball, Merlin Rocket, 505, 12 sq Metre Sharpie, Hornet, Miracle,
Enterprise, GP14, Flying Fifteen, Graduate and Wineglass fleets (to mention a
few)
