GP14 Tuning Guide

Rig Tension

Tight, measured on Jib luff wire 250-300 lbs.

Jib Sheeting

With the jib pulled in tight, the continuation of the jibsheet from the fairlead to the clew should intercept the front of the jib 2060mm up the luff wire. When over powered in heavy winds move the fairlead aft to flatten the jib and open the slot between the jib and the mainsail.

Spreaders

For spreader bracket height of 2900mm above tenon, length of spreader 365mm. Spreader sweepback 120mm.

Prebend

Check with jib only hoisted and the rig tension on, and the mast gate open . With the mast free to move fore and aft at deck level the prebend ( measured between the mast head and the gooseneck ) should be zero. However the mast when not contained by the gate should sit halfway out of the gate so that prebend is induced when the gate is closed. The amount of prebend can be adjusted with the mast rake.

Spinnaker Pole Height

Check by hoisting a tape measure on the spinnaker halyard and measuring to the outer end of the spinnaker pole. For running in strong winds raise the pole, and for light winds lower the pole.`
