Solo SailsDesign NotesWe have worked with the Solo class back in the eighties but lack of a local fleet at that time meant this was a limited involvement. However we have recently started development with a new, growing local fleet and early signs look promising, Our original sail was made in Dacron and proved to be on the pace. We have now looked at using laminate cloths for greater sail shape retention and control. The current design is quite powerful and has a radial foot construction when made in laminate. The design was originally aimed at the M7 mast, but has also been modified slightly for use on a Cumulus mast. As is common these days the battens fitted are the standard non-tapered flexible type. The foot is lens type with a clew slider. Sail
